Coventry, bugger my luck.
Here's one for you. I am thinking of replacing my (FL1/TD4/05 plate) tyres as they are past their best and I have a persistent slow puncture in NSF. I have a brand new spare, lobbed on by the previous owner. Sweet.

Spare is a brand new 225/55R17 97H MICHELIN 4X4 SYNCHRONE

To save me a bit of wedge can I fit that and three brand new:

225/55R17 101H MICHELIN 4X4 SYNCHRONE XL

in other words is it safe to run 3x101's an 1x97? Maybe I'll get the lighter kid to sit in that corner :D

Thanks for reading!

Its best to keep all 4 tyres the same or the vcu will lock up as it will think one wheel is loosing traction. This will put strain on the drive train and will cause some very expensive damage. Cheaper to buy 4 tyres the same in the long run.

As long as you don't decrease the load rating I don't think you will have a problem. I'm not aware of any reason why you cannot mix load ratings as long as you don't go below the original rating.
