Hello fellow gaylander owners!
I am slowly fixing problems on my freelander for the next MOT but this one has got me beat. The engine idle speed is irratic and i cant work out why. It will idle at around 1000 to 1500, if the accelarator is touched it rises quickley and will stay there for a few seconds before returning to what ever it feels like returning to.

I have replaced the IAC valve and the throttle body is fine (not sticking) and Im sure there is no air leak because there were no codes to indicate that when I had it read 2 weeks ago.
Could it be the timing? the wiring? I Just dont know.

Any input would be valued.
Thanks,
Pablo.

I know a solution to a similar solution in the petrol Freelander 1 (FL1, freebie, project CB40)

As for the gaylander as you put it, you must have the wrong sub-forum, try the Pretender and Disco forums ;)

ive got the same problem just disconnected ths temp sender plug while running & everything went back to normal will be changing sender tomorrow & update

Don't it's not the temp sensor, well as certain as I can be from a long distance diagnosis.

There are resistance values for the sensors, I and others have posted them on here.

Pm sent............ y i man

would it be the throttle position needs resetting? i've tried searching for said posts but cant find, just out of curiosity as mine used to do this before the head was replaced many months ago..

Glad you're sorted GL, but erratic idle is not a sympton of a duff sensor.

Whats the resistance on the old one at 20, 50 and 80 oC

i havent got a meter to test the old one so i dont know, but started playing up again today, so i did the tps reset & it was ok for about 10 mins so i reset agian ok for another 10 mins so ive benn to the scrappy & got another tps 7 fitted it seems ok for now fingers crossed
