Anyone got any experience or ideas with fitting one of these on a 200TDi? Actual fitting is simple but the bonnet release is in the way:

Does anyone have any ideas on how to move it? Don't just want to cut it off and not be able to fix it back on - how is it fixed on originally anyway?

Difficult to make out any real detail on your photo but if the bracket is in the way then I suggest you change to the later lever type bonnet release. I have one of these fitted to my 1986 90 and the pedal-lock fitted without any clearance issues.
That said, I dislike the pedal-lock itself and have removed it. The hinge is just where I rest my foot and I couldn't get used to feeling it all the time.

Thanks - hadn't thought of that. Any chance you could throw up a pic of how yours release is fitted?

Not the first time I've heard a complaint about the hinge, don't know if it'd bother me or not but I think I'd prefer the peace of mind of the extra security at the rate they seem to disappear.

dont you have to specify whether for a 200 or 300 tunnel when ordering? mines a 300 tunnel anyway with td5 release catch, mine fits perfect and hinge is nowhere near where i rest my feet :p

Thanks :) No - didn't get any choices when ordering. Looks like I'll have to fit a TD5 release catch - annoying since I not long ago replaced it!

Only one model available so no need to specify whether for 200 or 300TDi, it states on the Xeng website what models it fits.

With regards to the hinge and where you rest your feet, we have been here before. What is comfortable for one person is not comfortable for another. :(
Some drive with their left foot back against the seatbox, others on the slope of the footwell while a few ride the clutch. I rest my foot on what was a flat floor where the hinge is which means I can feel it. Don't like it and have got rid.

Mine fitted ok with a "little jiggle" to clear the bonnet release
Have you drilled the holes in the floor plan already?

Use Duct tape to ascertain the right position before drilling :)
