Borrowed the the wife my freelander earlier..(only the second time)..she's a mile from home and the fuel light comes on, so she does me a favour and puts £20.00 in the tank.

thats a first:)

Turns out just before she got home it started driving like a dog.......she has put
£20.00 of unleaded in my td4:eek::doh:

Any advice on what to do i.e brim it with diesel or drain the tank..etc

thanks for any help

might save the wife:p

drain it out, fill with diesel, bleed the system through and pray that no damage has been caused

brim it to the top with (diesel) and keep toping it up believe petrol lighter then diesel so diesel should drop to the bottom where pump should take fuel from

If that's the case, you should email Shell and all the other oil companies out there. They've been using costly fractional distillation to separate the components out of crude oil for ages, rather than simply leaving them in a tank and allowing them to settle!

i dont know freelanders but i guess there must be a way of getting the old fuel out, dont throw the old mixed fuel out tho, one of us tractor boys will take it off your hands

if no other known way take off the fuel pipe at some point, then buy a cheap pump and pump it out with that, DONT FORGET THE TRACTOR BOYS we like crap fuel

try useing a straw :D
Poor fecker, ya should have told him

Siphen it out from the intank fuel pump.
When you refill with diesel run it for a few tank fulls ,then change the oil.Pettol will make its way past the rings and thin the oil.
