Right, this poxy thing is really winding me up now. The old tailgate window regulator was intermittent, and when in "failure mode" (glass stuck, door not opening) I put it into self-test mode and was able to see that inputs from the switch in the cab were OK, door handle OK, output to the motor also OK, but the motor did not operate. So I came to the conclusion that the regulator was on the way out and bought a new one with wires, runners, etc.
I fitted that on Friday and all was well until this morning when I got a whole host of new failures....
1) Pressing the switch down results in the glass dropping an inch. Press it again and it does the same, ad nauseum until the glass finally reaches the bottom.
2) Raising the glass on the switch results in it going up by about an inch. Press again, same thing. Keep going until it reaches the top.
3) The tailgate was jammed shut again.
4) I disconnected the battery to try and recalibrate the window. 10 mins later I reconnected it, but the tailgate glass would only drop an inch, and not all the way to the bottom. So, recalibration didn't work.
This did release the tailgate latch though so I could get in and take the door panels off for a squint. All seems well with the fitment of the new regulator and wiring, etc, so nothing untoward there.
I put it into self-test mode again and, once again, all inputs and outputs check out OK. This time the output test to the window motor worked, but it just dropped an inch and not all the way down; same as when operated with the switch.
I assume this means my new regulator is not functioning correctly? I have contacted the supplier to see what they say, but await a reply. If anyone's got any suggestions in the meantime (burning it IS an option I will consider!
) then please enlighten me!
The old regulator came away in pieces, so I can't refit that for now.
