Yes I put the plate on first and I put the bolts in loosely  ..when I ordered them (after being asked if I was buying them as a present for someone :mad:) the guy on the other end of the phone apologised and then started to explain how to fit them!
...they did send the wrong destructions for the rear diff guard but I figured that out before fitting which Neil did (thanks):p
Dave is unique so obviously some minor adjustments had to be made so they would fit:D

I did wear some fetching yellow safety glasses to cut the diff guard btw:D

As for the whole topping up of anti freeze thing- I don't know what Neil found so amusing about my funnel!:p

sarah, fer gods sake woman, dont mention yer funnel like that.it might get the members thinking.:p:D:D

:hysterically_laughi

I was only asking as i didn't read the destructions and i put the guard on first and then wondered how to attach it to the axle.

The reason i ask about original axles is obviously there is different types but I've seen a few kits and there isn't much difference, they shouldn't have to be cut to fit though. :(

But there yours so you can do as you please :)

Yes I should;)....its a bit like being asked if Dave is my husbands landy and am I just borrowing it!:eek::mad:

Happened to me when i went to buy cotton to repair my trousers. Woman asked what colour and thickness my wife wanted!

Might? Waddya mean might?

FFS .. I've seen the picture and reckon I know why Neil was laughing ... a funnel that small needs seriously considering ... and probably needs the addition of some girth and depth .. ;)

paul,i was trying to be polite and sort of discreteish.obviously not enough.
anyhoo,how are you feeling now??

I'm all out of discrete mate, all out ...

All good mate, in fact feel great! New perspective on stuff and all that.

Been shafted by the insco though .. the £2k payout has turned into £1100 .. which they still haven't sent yet!

OTOH that just means I'll have a longer play-time sorting it out. Keep doing bits to it, just putting it on blocks to take wheels off and hubs/diffs off today. Gonna take it back to a shell to treat any rust, there isn't much except in the passenger footwell and battery tray mostly, and re-paint it all inside with a rust inhibitor etc. Chassis and all that is good, engine and gearboxes and everything mechanical all seem good, so it's just the wiring and associated 'bits' that willl need most work.

TC has offered to loan me his D2 for christmas, we're booked into a caravan site in Castleton for New year, so now there's no pressure or real rush to get it done quickly, I'd rather it were done properly. ;)

But the other funnel was too big so I had to use the little one:D, better than spilling anti freeze all over the place and it did the job......eventually:p

Jeeeeze I cant say anything round ere without it being taken out of context ....mind you it happens a lot outside of lz too . I have to remember not everyone knows who Dave is lol!:D
For eg. me saying I revved the nuts off Dave flying down the M1 might just be misunderstood by some:pound:

Yeah well .. stuff happens!

It turns out that the engineer offered £2k, cat c which I accepted, thinking I had £250 excess so expected £1750 overall, and I could keep the Disco .. good deal I thought as opposed to £2k - £250 and get the Disco taken off me!

If I'd realised I could (legally) have stripped the Disco of good parts before they took it away I would have done so, but couldn't get any crap wheels in time to swap which meant my new ones (£540 worth) would have gone too ... too much to lose, so accepted the cat C offer.

It then turned out that Cat C attracts a 26% 'fee' which is deducted from the 2K, then the excess is also deducted, which turned out to be £350 not £250, so in the end I'm getting £1160 .. but the Disco is still mine and eligible to go back on the road after repairs. So with only £1k it ain't worth looking at anything else so we're going to have to do up this one!

Too naive me, not having gone through this sort of thing before ..

No worries, looking forward to it now .. ;)

ok,but these insurance company's have it covered every which way dont they.well the only thing for you to do is crack on with it and to get it ready asap.well good luck with whatever you do with it paul.it has made me think as well as i too have never done anything like that either, hope i never have to either.:(

Trouble is so many things are happening right now in my life ..

We had a couple of motorbikes stolen in 2006, one of which I still have the V5 for (the other was never registered 'cos it was a competition Trials bike) and I received a number of NIP's for speeding offences last month! Turns out, the chap I bought it off years ago lives in the area where the offences occurred .. and as it was stolen without a number plate ... and I can prove it's mine, I might be getting that back now! And I've been speaking with, exchanging emails with Police and generally trying to keep out of court for it as I'm the last registered owner .. even though DVLA told Police I no longer have the bike!

Son was home, quite ill for a couple of weeks, sister had another horse die a few days ago .. Mum also fell ill a fortnight ago, nephew is having issues .. just so much going on my head's spinning!

No worries though, just an odd time!
