Being a DIY type I'm not used to this but could some one give me a balanced
opinion..
Disco went in for the seal on the diff leafking, Blowing manifold, MOT,
Aircon pipe requiring replacement.
As I didn't have time to do these myself I sent it in to be done with the
MOT to a Cheshire Landrover dealer (non franchised)
Positives - passed the MOT no problems
Seal replaced, yet to see to what effect.
Negatives - Couldn't get the air con pipe in 4 days so that was aborted
(
Manifold bolts were tightened reducing the spit but not solving it , they
suggested this would do because of the LPG stuff in the way and potential
for snapping a stud.
I'm just a little miffed that they charged 1 1/2 to do the seal and 1 hour
to tighen all the bolts on one manifold.
Am I just being a little over financially sensitive? I'd have expected a
fully equiped mechanic / technician in a Land rover service bay to sort
these in less time. I expect I would have been able to do the two actual
completed jobs in less time myself on my back on the drive (for the seal).
They do appear to bill by the half hour as this is what they clocked for
"presenting for MOT" which is fair enough.
The manifold bolts for me are the biggest shock..... or perhaphs I need to
slow down at work.
Like I say, just opinions on this folks, I expected to pay... just a little
stunned at the time taken.
