Work light through reverse problem.

Would think the easiest way would be a on-off-on switch. Where one on would pull the relay normally for your static work lamp and the other on you can wire so the reverse lamp power pulls the relay and puts both the reverse lamp and the work lamp on. In the off position the reverse lamps would just work as normal.

+1 - got an on-off-on, relay, light and several meters of cable in the 'jobs waiting to be done' pile. If the work light relay is wired from the common terminal to earth and just feed the lives from the other two terminals as said, should be a good'un...? Relay could be in the rear light wiring spaghetti under the cover beside the rear door, fused live from up front for me as I've got an old fashioned incandescent lamp....... and looking to make a nice stainless bracket to hang it from the back of the roof rack. Oh, and a waterproof casing to get through the back panel..... simples. Now I remember why its in the 'jobs waiting to be done' pile..... ho hum....A

Assuming it's fairly low power, you could run a lead from the existing reverse light feed at the back junction box to the work light feed. This does mean the reverse light will come on when you switch the work light on from the dash.

This morning I tried taking a feed from the existing reverse light to the switched live of the relay I have installed for the work light but when I put the switch on the dash lights up etc like the ignition is on but this is without the keys in. Am I back feeding the electrical system doing this? ( I used the white wire form the reverse light).
