Hi.

I used my 1974 series 3 to launch a boat yesterday and put it into low. Now I cannot engage 2wd high. The lever will not move at all. I can engage 4wd high, when the yellow lever is pushed down it will engage high range no problem.

The problem is I am 250 miles from home and travelling back tomorrow. Is there any quick fix?

I do have freewheeling hubs, so is it okay to use 4wd high with the hubs disengaged?

Have you tried reversing or jacking up a wheel, you've maybe just wound up the transmission. If the transmission is wound up your freewheeling hubs might not actually disengage properly as they will be jammed into the splines.

Thanks for the reply. Tried reversing this evening, and jacked up the rear. The wheels did turn a little bit, unwinding? But still can't shift into 2wd. The hubs are free, so I'm hoping its okay to drive back like this?

Hopefully when I'm home I can have a better look.

Alls ended well. It was just seized with dirt , soaked it all in penetrating fluid and it slides in and out of high/low 2wd/4wd like a dream now.
