 Hi everyone.Could anyone out there please send me details about the land rover wolf, what makes it different from a standard defender? How much you are likely to have to pay for one and from where etc?Thinking of converting one into a expedition/off roader. To tour northern Canada.Any help/tips/advice/alternatives would be appreciated. Thanks and all the best.

A Wolf eh? It's a completely different machine to a Defender. Some would say it's more like a Rangie with Defender panels. There are a few look-alikes around i.e. Defenders with bits stuck-on to look the part, but the underneath is all wrong (you know how we all spend most of our lives underneath 'em ;) ). If you visit the EMLRA forum (via www.emlra.org) there are one or two people with genuine Wolves who can give you all the info you need. Start saving!

Hi Basecamp,

My local Landy workshop (RST Motors, West Mersea) buys and sells a lot of ex-Ministry 90s and 110s. He could be point you in the right direction or maybe even supply one.

They only really deal with Series, 90s and Defenders.

I am not sure if they are available or released from the Army yet?

Best regards

Yes, one or two have been released - but most of the "Wolves" you see at shows are look-alike 110s with bits added. I think this is due to the changes in the way the MOD gets it's vehicles now: most of them are not actually owned by the MOD but on long-term lease from Land Rover. That's why you see them at your local dealer getting serviced ;) . A friend of mine has just got his hands on a genuine one, though. £7000 and it needs a new bulkhead! Tread carefully...
