I saw this in an FB post yesterday and I have no idea what this "extra" bar is.

Can anyone tell me what it is?
TIA

It's not an extra bar, it's the lateral front internal cage bar fitted to some later/Wolf Land Rovers, built and supplied by Safety Devices...

Possibly, but many an MOD Defender was fitted with all sorts beyond std fitment. Here's clear pic of internal roll cage

OK, yes, those front/cabin bars are part of the REMUS upgrade, which mine once had, but was removed.

If wanting to refit you can buy the cage components from Safety Devices.

Mine is an external 6-point cage that passes through the wings/body and is welded directly to the chassis...

gonna be a bitch of you ever need to seperate body from chassis!

Hi flat, I thought this too when I refurbished the chassis as the cage-to-chassis points are structurally very heavily welded. But it's only eight points of contact/it's just metal...and now refurbished, I don't intend to do this for many years to come...;)

eta will make me look after the chassis even more!

eta#2 - just rethinking this through [you got me thinking...], if body needed to be lifted/removed, I simply unbolt and remove external roll cage and then unbolt and lift body. It's part of its clever mated through the body design - so not too much extra work :)
