Hi i replaced the rotor filter on my disco td5 a coulple of days ago but i think i've over tightened the 2 bolts on the cover and stripped the threads i've replaced the 2 bolts to see if that helps but no joy, with the engine running oil is seeping from between the filter top and the body part of the filter housing. My question is. Can i drill a hole down where the bolts go and through the part of the filter housing where my knackered threads are and out of the bottom and use a nut and bolt to secure the top down or would i be better of trying to cut a new fred in to the housing and use fatter bolts like m8 has any one else had this problem? would be greatful for any ideas/sugestions

Hi,

have had EXACTLY the same problem, I tried tapping the holes out, but only lasted until I next changed the filter.
I ended up drilling through, and fitting nuts and bolts, bit of a fiddle now to undo - especially if hot !! but it works, and has saved shed loads of dosh for a replacement housing from LR
