Well the series 3 engine is mounted and the gearbox should soon follow it with a series 2a bellhousing to keep the mechanical clutch.
As this will be a series 1 pickup with a series 3 engine what extra wiring will I need when ordering a wiring harness?

Well, you'll need a harness suitable for an alternator rather than a dynamo and control box. Can't think of much else.....

oxides meant that the original charging system had a dynamo and regulator (control box)

so being as you're updating and fitting an alternator you need the wiring harness built to suit an alternator

i personally would also have the wiring modified to also include relays for the lights to reduce the stresses put on 50 year old switches, also if fitting an electric fan have that system on another relay and all built into the harness and maybe another relay built in to run a pair of period spotlights, plus an upgrade on the fusing levels (more than two fuses) so that power can be taken tidily for a cb, cigarette lighter/phone charger, radio

it all depends on what you want to potentially fit in the future, if it's catered for now it means you won't end up with unsightly additional wires draped around at a later date, the only decisions then to be made when ordering your harness is where would you like the fuse panel mounted along with the relays as the wiring builders need to know this before you start

my relays and fuse panel are mounted on the engine side of the bulkhead where they're easily accessible
