Wiring...... Ignition switch

Right as some of you may know I'm converting my s3 derv to a v8 and now a little stuck. (wiring is really not my strong point )

Can anyone comfirm wiring colours on the ignition switch and what they're for?

Need to connect a wire to the on position of the switch.
And one wire to the cranking position on the switch.

I Have absolutely no idea which is which even after looking at a wiring diagram it is a proper rats nest behind the instrument panel! :wtf:

Any help will be very much appreciated

The wire that used to go to your diesel stop solenoid for the coil if you had one , if not a wire connected to white wire which is ignition live will do. You can also pick this up off back of fuse block.
Starter solenoid should be the same as old engine White red I believe.

I have yes but like i said wiring really isn't a strong point of mine and can't make much sense of it. Sorry

Ah brilliant that makes a lot of sense. thank you will give it a go and see what happens.

Also i have turnt the front of the alternator round as you suggested in my other thread
