hi guys. Just putting my 1990 90 2.5td back together after a bulkhead swap.

Couple of things I didn't take pics of but one has me stumped.

What colour are the wires to the brake check on top of the brake master cylinder

Thanks. Adam

Mine's a 1989 90 2.5td (Now with a 300 Tdi in) and has a black, black with white trace and white with black wires.

cheers fella, but that's what i was afraid of. i have no wiring that looks anything like that, let alone with spade terminals on. i must be missing something here, out of interest, where does the wiring disappear to?

Through the bulkhead .. I'd take another picture, but it won't help 'cos I had a fire in the engine department and renewed a lot of the wiring and connectors .. those are original though ..;)

I'm just rebuilding mine its a 200tdi same wiring colours though, I think its add on wiring too the main loom can check tomorrow for you and see were it goes to if you haven't sorted it ? if you've unplugged it and put it somewhere then you wouldn't be able to find it.

i'd appreciate that ian. there's a couple of empty plugs, but the wires still wouldn't match up. a push in the right direction would be a great help

Been out and tried to follow it ... good luck!!

Seems it is a branch off a section off the main loom. Closest to the master cylinder there is a branch alongside it with three green wires that go from behind the vacuum reservoir into the bulkhead behind the clocks, but the join to the brake wires is covered in black loom tape, which branches off the main loom which comes from the bulkhead behind the fuel filter .. but I couldn't follow it any more due to the previous fire and 'stuff' ... ;)

No probs will have a look tomorrow for you, yes the 2 green wires and the green/purple wire are for the brake lights.

Nice one, thanks .. didn't notice the green/purple but it's nice to know what they're for!! .. ;)

i've got the brake lights working ok. god only knows why i've taken parts off the loom and put them somewhere else

It is a sub loom that connects to the main loom by the fuel filter, the black earth wire goes to a screw in the bulkhead and the two black/white wires go to the main loom. but if I've got mine wright its a double moulded plug on the wires but they go into two single moulded plugs.

hope these help Ian

That's superb. Is it two single plugs coming from the bulkhead and a double plug coming from the master cylinder or the other way around?

spot on thanks, the wires had corroded and the plugs probably came off. i rolled back some of the loom tape and found them. thanks for your help, much appreciated
