HI Chaps,

As the title suggests I am have problems with my wipers.

So i have been rebuilding my 110 csw and have put all the dash in only to find that the wipers are now parking in the upright position!

Before i take it all apart again does anyone have any thoughts on this - an easy fix would be good! Nothing that i am aware of has changed, the connection plug can only go in one way. If i remember correctly they didnt park at all when I got the landy. So we have 1/2 improved!

Also I would appreciate thoughts on the order of tightening up all the bolts for the the bodywork. Basically i have the whole car assembled (no doors on yet) with all mounting bolts in but still loose. What would be the best order to tight it all up...
To confirm bulkhead to wing bolts are tight. C pillar is riveted/bolted to rear tub. Rear tub is bolted to back of chassis (could be undone).

Thanks for your help.

Ok thanks for your replies. So i need a new switch, even though the actual switch works, just its stopping in the wrong position.?

I am not familliar with how these work, but was wondering if maybe it was a set up issue rather than faulty switch. Ie.e how does the switch know the position of the wipers...?

Having just replaced a burnt out wiper motor, I offer the following tips on my experience! Ordered a new motor, but did not realise it did not come with the crank arm. That had to be ordered separately.
Got new crank arm, and, if I had fitted it the way it came, then I would also have wipers parked in the upright position.
To check, dis connect the wiper cable from the motor assembly, (remove the aluminium cover plate to do this). Apply power to the motor and let it settle in the parked position. If the crank is fully extended, then it is trying to park in the upright position, It ought to be fully retracted to park at the bottom of the screen. To change this, you need to remove the crank and gear wheel assembly, (there is a circlip and shim holding it in place) unplug the plastic lug under the wheel and re-insert in the 180 degree side opposite. The motor will now park with the crank retracted. Hope that helps?

if they are parking at all the park switch is good, if intermittent is working the relay is good, if they are parking in the wrong place you have them out of phase by 180

Correct! except mine is an older landy so dont have intermitant. (the push down for one wipe doesnt work).

So i need to get in phase by 180degrees as per DerekT post..?

Cheers

Again, just to clarify, the "Park" circuit is in essence a microswitch that breaks the feed to the wiper motor. This switch is operated by the plastic Lug on the underside of the crank gear wheel. As the wheel rotates and reaches the park position the circuit is broken and the drive halted hence parking the wipers. If you wipers are parking, albeit in the wrong position, then this switch is functioning correctly.

Thanks for all your replies - now solved.

I took the gear apart and rotated the cam wheel 180degrees (how it got put together wrong i dont know!)

Also I do have one wipe (press down)but just working sometimes - after pressing and wiggling the switch it worked so can only assume loose connection in switch - new switch on its way.

Cheers
