After doing a lot of work to my 90 ive set of a chain of wiper related woes.

I was repairing the bulk head against the clock ( not literally but limited daylight! ) so my wipers came off with a hammer and went back together in a similar way.

I bust the wheel boxes and therefore the motor burned out on the way home.

Repaired the wheel boxes and replaced the motor put a new fuse in - but im still having issues.
Im new to all this but the only other thing on the circuit is the reverse light which i have replaced with an LED so keep that in mind.

So before the work everything worked fine.
The mechanical mechanism works fine now.
There is a new motor with a new park switch. ( old one burnt out and the brushes were well worn. )

So i put the new fuse in and turn my wipers on, nothing happens the fuse instantly blows.

I put a 20 amp fuse in just to see - the wipers work but only when the stalk is in the off position ( ie the one position they shouldnt work in! ) immediately replace the 20 amp with the correct 15 amp and the fuse no longer blows but same situation.

Fault is that my wipers are working at a slow speed when in the off position - other positions show no sign of life!

Any ideas?

Relay issue? Wiring issue? - Worked fine before.

Looking forward to hearing from you, and thanks in advance for taking the time to read this.

James.

If you had a burn out at the motor then likely something else melted as well. First I would check wires where they enter the stalk.

Thanks - ill have a look later on today at the wires at the stalk - the old motor burnt out because all the wheel boxes were kaput and it was trying to run ( idiot here didn't realize ) so it it just got hotter and hotter, 20 minute drive i smelt it and it was too hot to touch but it hadn't melted any wires or soldiering removed it, knew it wouldn't run again so repaired all the wheel boxes and replaced the motor, park switch, so wiring to the stalk ill check next, the other thing is the relay, been in and out of the fuse box a bit and it could have simply been knocked, i read somewhere else it will work without the relay just not in the speeds so i was thinking it could be a relay issue.

Ill search this evening for a bundle of melted wires somewhere!

thanks for the response!
