Wiper switch

Hi,
I’ve swapped my window wiper switch on my 1991 defender 90 and now they don’t work has anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi, what was the reason for changing the switch? Did they work beforehand

Yes they did then, the wire had worked loose for the window washer, which you can’t put back in as it’s in the arm.

Was it a britpart switch you got? Been known to not work when new. My light switch was like that.
Check the fuse, see if that hasn't blown.
If not then get your multimeter out and start testing the wires/earths

To be fair I’m not sure, just put the year of my defender in as it said it fits. This is my first defender so still learning lol. I’ve checked the fuses the only one that had blown was the horn and main beam which I’ve changed cause I’ve put a new switch on that side as well. That’s why I’m a bit stumped. But thank you will try this and see what happens.

Could you put the old switch back in temporarily to see if the wipers work?

I’ve done that and nothing, this is what’s blowing my mind. I’m not sure what else to look for. But can’t find a fuse for the wipers.

That's strange, check the earth wire for the switch hasn't broke while changing it over.
Im not sure which fuse it is, doesn't it say on the sticker on the fuse box panel?
Might be a stupid question, but did you try the wipers with the ignition on?

Will have a look tomorrow, yes it does say on the fuse box I’ve checked them all.
Yes I did try them with the ignition on lol.
