Wiper fault

Hello I am after some advice, I have just bought a 1990 110 and have had problems with the wipers, they are now working since I changed the fuse however they only work very slow and with one speed.
I bought a brand new stalk and fitted that but again very slow and only one speed.

Is there anything else I can do to make it faster.
