is the timer control for the wipers on a defender in the switch system or in the motor, at the moment mine is either on or off and stops the instant its turned off wherever it is at the time!

the park switch is on the side of the motor.

have you had it long OP or has it just started happening while you have owned it?

had a similar issue with mine but it was down to the fact that someone tried to fit a later wiper stalk (6 pin) to an early loom (5 pin). new stalk from peterborough and all sorted
