Hi all,

Recently bought a 110 Hardtop "Sold as Seen" (reg 2000, 135k miles) and after a few weeks, the wipers don't work any more. Their motor produces a continuous whining, whatever the position of the command. The only way to stop it is pull the fuse. The wipers don't move at all. Before i go to a dealer, i'd like to give it a try. Does anyone has a guess where/what i should be looking for ? Just in case that is something obvious or common with defenders and easy to repair (something to replug in the dashboard for instance).

I can't thing of any i did that would have triggered this, nor anything special i could have noticed.

Otherwise, does anyone recommend a specific garage in the E1 area ?

Many thanks for your help,

Erwann

sounds to me like the motor spindle has come away from the bit it drives, which includes the self park sensor whatsit.

Take the panel off where the wiper is, tis just a handful of screws, and remove the wiper motor. Have a play, see what you find!

Ok, i'll remove the dashboard and have a look. It will be a good opportunity to clean a bit what's behind...

Try manually moving the wipers and see if you can get the whirring to stop, this will set the park switch to the off position (whilst making sure that the stalk is set to "off".)
