Windscreen washer jet upgrade options!!

Hi all.

Has anyone any experience with this replacement jet.. or have any different recomendations?

I'd llike to get this sorted as existing was pretty useless and then broke on removal, and currently have good access to change it.

£80 .... i've come over all weak.

Just put one (or two) of these in the LHD jet holes in the bulkhead and connect them to the existing jet with a 'T' piece.
I have one (PRC2437) on the drivers side and the advantage is huge..

I use 2 x standard LR 90/110 screen washers.you get more squirt. These fit in the LHD holes as well.

I found a kit on eBay that fits the washers on to wiper arms, works wonderfully well, squirts just In
front of the blades..
Something like this

CSI jet is fantastic. Little expensive but excellent, had one on my old 110 willbe buying one asap for my mew 110

Fitted these to both of mine (and twice to the 110 after the fire). Hands down the best mod I have made. far cheaper than the CSI one linked and far more effective as is mounted to the wiper blade itself giving direct spray onto the screen across the full width

That looks intreaguing. Where did you bring the washer feed through bulhead from, and was there much hose that could snag anywhere ?

Thanks for the suggestion. Must admitt i'm not keen on the £80 price tag, but did you feed off existing outlet from middle or have to bring hose through to wipers in another fashion??

all i do is bring the pipe out through the washer hole and fit a t piece then run a hose up each wiper arm to a t piece and then a short bit of pipe
the open part of the t piece is directed at the top of the blade so when you wash water squirts out the end and in the middle of the blade

Great suggestion. Thanks. I take it you dont need to upgrade the pump to cope with this extra!

Thanks. Did the jet reach over the wipers and in front well enough on drivers side? thats always been an issue with standard on mine. wondered if i might need to upgrade the actual pump

Tbh I am quite happy with the standard set up, not caused me any grief in 12 odd years.
I mentioned the other washer jets ideas as I deal with them every day at work.

The original pump is fine, no upgrade required.

I used a y-piece under the ashtray into the original hose then used the left hand drive wiper spindle mounting holes (should be plugged with a grommet) to run the hose outside and up to the wiper arm on each side. I will see if I have a pic of the setup.
Again the standard pump is fine as you don't actually need any pressure as it is directed straight onto the screen rather than needing to spray any distance up the screen. I have run this setup for nearly 10 years (previously used 405 wiper arms but cannot seem to get them anymore) and have had no issue off road or in general use with the hose catching on anything

very similar to what i've done

I've done more or less the same on mine, huge difference over the std setup

Mine

I had the same on my TD% Defender that i had from the first day of ownership. The previous owner used a fairy liquid bottle out of the drivers window on the front screen!!!!!. I had a duff pump on the reservoir box so changed it. Its behind the nearside headlight. So, pop out the light and its easy to see and to then remove it. I added new black hose all the way along the inside of the wing to the dash and then a new plastic Y piece and a new non return valve too and new black pipe to the two jets. It worked a treat.
I then decided to go further and added a second new pump on the reservoir tank that used to power the rear window jet. It hadnt been working for years as someone added a spare wheel on the rear door and took out the rear wiper motor...... I used the new pump to power two more bonnet mounted jets that had two holes in each jet and connected both with new pipe non return valve and Y piece . So when i use the dash mounted switch for the old rear wiper, i now get four new jets that blast the entire screen quickly. No more standard dribbles for me. So i have a choice of the normal steering wheel arm for the old two outlets or the push button four jets.
All the bits are real cheap and all available on Ebay at a couple of pounds each so no big expense and an easy fit.
