Windscreen rubber seal

I just had mine replaced, as the seal had also had it. I would get a genuine Land Rover seal. Apparently they last longer than all of the other makes. Didn't want to do it myself as it's a b*tch of a job. The screen has a 50/50 chance of cracking on installation. Though they didn't break mine, they put a new one in for me as old one was starting to delaminate where it was under the seal. Not a cheap job mind, was £72 to have them come out and change it. p.s Avoid Britpart :) that seal wont last a week when the frost gets here in the winter :)

I changed my'n not to long ago for a heated windscreen, was a pain in the arse until my dad came over and made me look like an idiot.
We warmed the seal in some hot water and placed the seal around the window whilst it was led flat. Then cut two lengths of string, put the string in the frame slot of the seal, the idea is that each piece of string goes from the top of the screen across, down and meeting back in the middle at the bottom making sure that top and bottom cross each other by about a foot.
Lube the seal and the frame up a bit then lift it into place, one person puts a bit of force on the windscreen and the other begins to pull the string, the string pulls the seal over and jobs a good'n.

The Britpart seals are fine, even the genuine ones crack after years out in the sun & frost and I haven't had a BP one start to crack on my yet. One of them has been in for over six years now, the other about three. I replace them every time a new screen is fitted (heated replacements of course), never had one leak either.
