Well cause I was a cocky TW*T and posted that my 97 Disco didnt leak, I have to swimming pools in my footwells, Apart from piping in air and having a couple of Jucuzzi's I figured after reading 5 million posts on here it was either blocked A/C pipes or Windscreen, Well I had a nose underneath and I think I found the A/C pipe(the ends have like a cake nozzle thingy on them/) on the drivers side, I think they are Ok but will check inside tomorrow, My gut feeling is its the windscreen as there is so much water in the foot wells and I aint had the A/C on much, I have a cracked screen so am toying with getting it done on the insurance but I've got a £60 excess so was wondering if they change the windscreen seal when they replace the glass(never claimed before) if they dont its mastic as I dont think the crack affects mot, Any ideas?

I also have very wet footwells. After some time with a hosepipe tracing the ingress I found that it was coming in through the heater system. If you open your glove box fully (push the securing arms fully up whilst the glove box front is partially open, it'll then swing down to the floor) you'll be able to see the heater system. Spray the screen with the hose pipe and look to see if the water seeps (streams) through the heater casing. If it does then you have the same problem I had.

The problem is that water runs down the screen over the top of the rubber seal then between the seal and the plastic panel and into the heater air intake.

I built up a large mastic barrier around the top of the heater air intake so any water runs around this area and away. Seems to work.

A better solution would be to make a plastic extension shroud around the top of the air intake vent. I may have a go at this and drop some photo's in.

Thanks very much for the reply,Had a nose in the glove box and all looks dry,Plus the drivers side is much wetter. The top of the windscreen definately looks dodgy(manky and perished) So does anyone know if they change seals when renewing the windscreen???

some do , some dont but they should do. cost me £97 for a brand new screen fitted with new seal but that was oop here in wigan. worked out cheaper to just shell out instead of losing any no claims for claiming. dunno whether they have any depots down your end but i used budget windscreens. claim to be nationwide but in wigan that means 10 mile radius:D

if it's a repairable crack it doesn't. if its too far gone which isn't that big a crack and has to be replaced then it does affect your no claims (unless its protected) got told by lancaster insurance and the adverts on the radio for windscreen repairs:D

Thanks for the help guys, I think I will get a new screen it is cracked and if I dont lose my no claims I got nothing to lose, Everything costs a bloody fortune down yer so your £97 would be double no doubt lol, My local garage charges £1.22 for a litre of diesel. Tesco charges me 56p for a litre of liquid gold :))

No, if it's repairable it free, if you have to claim you pay the excess for windscreen cover. It does not affect you NCB, I know as I've already claimed. Unless your with a mickey mouse insurance company.

Just booked it in with autoglass, It wont affect my NCB but I will have to pay the £60 excess :-(, The chap I spoke to knows Discovery's well and is going to check the seals around the alpine windows, sunroof's etc for me and also check the seals where the wiring loom s go in ect.
As for oil prices Tesco pura oil 56ppl I order 100 litres at a time from store and pick it up 3-4 days later

Well had the windscreen replaced today, Drove off down the road to find I had a force 10 gale blowing through the gap between the screen and dash, Took it back to autocrap/glass had a closer look, There was broken glass everywhere inside the car and under the bonnet(up to 2 inch shards)where they hadnt bothered to clean up and to top it all they had trapped the heating wiring between the glass and the surround, So now they have to re-book the job and replace the screen in 2 days as the glue needs to set a bit before the can remove it again, Complete tossers and they think that £60 excess refunded is going to be enough to cover my 2 days pi**ing around, No chance!!! I reckon my 6 year old daughter could have done a better job, Morale of the story dont use Autocrap!!!

sorry to gate crash ya post but talking of autocrap, couple of years ago they replaced a smashed window on my motor after it was broken into at my mums, after he had done the job he got into his van on my mums sloped drive put it in first instead of reverse and smashed mi mums porch down!!!

always shop around, the smaller local places are usually better and cheaper coz word o mouth goes a long way:D

Well I had refused to go to the same branch cause they were so crap so a guy was coming out to do it (even though I was told they couldnt do that) and hey guess what its pi**ing down so he aint coming now, So now I cant drive the bloody thing cause water will flood in to the fuse box as its raining so hard , I have spoken to the managing directors secretary so hopefully I might get it done by June 09!!!!!!!!!! I can honestly say I have never experienced such crap service

Nice encouragment, seeing as i need to ring up to get mine done (its had a lovely crack for about 4 months now) Think i'll ring me insurance first and see what there procedure is, they might find me a local firm instead of auto crap (not that a trip to there place at bolton is too bad i guess, not far)
