I know there are lots of threads on this already but I cannot find the information I need.

It has been a long time since I last fitted a windscreen but I am happy with the principal to do it myslef (lots of lube and some string). What I cannot remember is which bit of the seal goes where! All other threads seem to just say "put the seal on the windscreen".

The seal I have appears to have three grooves, I know one goes on the windscreen, one closes up when fitted and one is what the string goes into and eventual sits around the frame. Below are picture of both sides of the seal which I have numbered the grooves. If someone could be so kind as to let me know which bit goes in which grove that would be very much appreciated.

Any good???
thank you for the pics, I do have the 90 to compare to but even with it in front of me stood holding the seal I could still not work it out.

I think 2 is the lip for the string and 3 is the glass? but I am not sure. i am going to try fitting it to the glass in the various grooves and hope that will mkae things more evident.

Yep looks like 2for the string

The string has to go in the one that is opposite to the glass slot.
I would say the bigger lip is for the string

does that make sense?

Well having had a closer look today with a bit more time I am still not sure which goes where. None of the grooves appear to have a large enough lip on both sides to be the frame, two have a single large lip but the other is then much smaller and not at all what I remember form last time I fitted one. I think i am going to have to bit the bullet and try and fit it to the windscreen in various different grooves and see if things become clearer.

I was not expecting where to put the seal to be the difficult bit of the windscreen fitment!

Get a heated screen fitted by a professional.let them have the trouble;)

Have you a pic of the end of the seal.

For me there would be a slot (glass) and 2 lips.

Mike from brittania on youtube might have a video or do a search on youtube theres bound to be a video..

I think I have worked out how the seal fits as I had a look at a windscreen that had come out and had had the seal over sprayed when it was last painted.

From these pictures of the old painted seal I think the the assumption that in my original pictures number 3 goes around the screen and number 2 is the frame. so I will have a go at that over the bank holiday.

Well after a lot of swearing and the seal slipping off I have managed to get it mounted to the glass. I am sure it would have been a lot easier if I wasn’t working on my own but I got there in the end. Having fitted to the glass everything else has become much clearer in its Placemnet but I have another issue. The seal seems to be too large a circle!

Not the clearest of pic but it shows two places where there is too much slack in the seal and it will not stay fitted to the screen. Any suggestions for how to keep it in place for fitting. I am confident that once fitted it will be snug I. The frame and against the glass. It is just getting to stay put while being fitted.

Bit of masking tape after placing the string, the string will tear it out then you should be able to get the bits off.
