Hi Team, I seem to have a weird issue with p38 1997 SE windows, sunroof and mirrors. I got into the car today and basically nothing on the centre switch panel would work.

If I remove fuse 1 which feeds power to the centre switch pack outstation then on trying again the windows work and work fine untill a little time later when they give up again have repeated the removal of the fuse twice and each time they work but it seems to stop after a while.

Looking at the RAVE diagrams fuse 1 feeds the outstation and I wonder if there is an issue with this and it has faulted? Btw landrover no longer stock these and they are obsolite!!

What do you think? It seems weird that the issue came to light today and I have not had any issue with thw windows etc before. Battery is fairly new and everything else workis in the car except heated seats!!

where are the techys then??
nick.

The centre switch packs are a known failure item. Easy to diagnose with a Faultmate or Testbook. You can probably get a secondhand one from Emmotts of Colne. J the Range has the number.

the fuse 1 feeds radio memory and trip computer supply so as these are ok i think its got to be the switches!!

Had the same problem with my P38 and got a secondhand outstation fitted when i was in Kosovo (yes the land rover dealer in Pristina had a P38 he was wrecking) and everthing is working OK now

Thanks for all the messages I fitted a second hand unit collected from Hi Range Ltd Near Burton on Trent today have fitted it and all works ok now. I want to try and find where the old one has faulted so may be able to locate the offending component.
Could it be due to the condensation within the car this week? What do you think? causes of it going wrong?
Nick.
