Hi folks, window problem with my P38 i want to get sorted,
Drivers door window regulator has a couple of missing teeth, they are in the position of being at motor when window is fully closed, message ctr says window not set, tried resetting procedure, didnt work. window goes down and up fine until it gets to fully closed then it makes a banging noise, what i am wondering is, will replacing the regulator sort the problem or has something else gone that didnt stop window at closed position which resulted in chewed teeth, dont want to replace regulator if first time i close window i damage it.

99.99% probability that the regulator is the problem. Common fault on P38's. Replace the regulator (Approx. £40 from Egay) and you should be okay. TIP- replace the pop rivets with either rivnuts or screws and nuts and the next time you need to change it will be easier. When you look at the construction of the regulator, soft mild steel, it's surprising they last as long as they do!!

yes definatly the regulator,i changed mine couple of weeks ago same banging noise ,about 45mins -1hr job if your a noob like me

agreed ; deffo the reg; thing is change it ASAP; mine went all of a sudden; bent itself and event split part of its own metal plate; couldnt even shut the window!!

Hello All.
This may sound like a dumb question from a new guy... But here goes.

All of the pictures of Regulator mechanisms I'm seeing on eBay and the websites show the motor and drive shafts but not the whopping great cog. And on my P38 that's what's missing teeth.

Am I missing the point?

You don't need the motor, just the regulator, try P38 Spares or Rimmer Bros. Rimmers have expensive OEM and cheaper pattern parts. Rimmers part number for the drivers side is CVF100740P cost £53.66 inc VAT www.rimmerbros.co.uk:D:D
