Window guards legality

Hi all, I understand you can get window guards for the rear windows on the defender but what is the legality of putting them on the side windows where drivers and passengers sit for example the 4 side windows on a 110, as I've seen a Line x defender in Russia with them on. But wondering if they can be bought for the other windows rather than the rear windows or sliding windows

I dont think theres a legal issue. But getting the guards may be tough. Driver/passenger front guards you can get off ex mod/police ones i believe

Yeah but what if you got your own made how would they fit to the door so the window could still go up

I would be more concerned about getting a casualty out in a crash if the door can't open

The ones fitted locally (NI) were permanent. There was a hinged option for the windscreen, which could be pulled up in the event of attack.
Given the simple design of the window winders, maybe a tough makrolon or similar window could be used instead?
