Wind noise from a Frontrunner Expedition Roofrack?

Hi - I am new to this - but can anyone tell me if the Frontrunner expedition roof rack will drive me round the twist with wind noise? - I have been looking at the Frontrunner & the Hannibal for my 1997 Defender 90 - looks wise I think I prefer the Frontrunner but I keep picking up google threads about wind noise?

Any Frontrunner owners out there with first hand reports on a Defender? - Is the 'wind noise' just a sales pitch from Hannibal?

I have a 90, 300tdi like yours and the front runner expedition rack.

It is silent on most days until you hit about 50 then it gets louder the faster you go after that. It also depends which way round you will have it, it's quieter with the expedition rail at the back.

Awesome rack though, the accessories are expensive from front runner but they are all so easy to fit with the slat system and the quality is very good. There is not a lot they don't make for it either.

If you don't need the expedition rail then get the slimline it will probably be quieter and it's the exat same size and same slat system as the expedition ones anyway.

Many thanks for that! - sounds like you are happy with yours and thats what I wanted to hear to be honest! - barring any bad reports I will shedding some fairly serious cash next month!

I am very happy indeed

I should add that I have never tried the wind deflectors - which they all come with. Never seen any others with them on actually, I may fit them at the weekend and see what happens

Make sure you stock up on M8 bolts, because thats what you need for the slat system.. Then your ready to go, fit anything to it without the need to drill the rack.
