Winch Reviews

Here we are we another common topic. But I'm looking at getting the terrafirma winch or the stealth winch.
What is everyone else using and their pros/cons of their choices?

Hiya mate! I'm not sure about the TF or the stealth, but the ones sold by David Bowyer are highly recommended and he's sort of a guru on the subject. Even if you don't want to buy one of his, a glance at his website is worth the effort and quite interesting!
I'll probably go for one of his when I can afford it!

As @Gottschalk said, Goodwinch Goldfish TDS 9.5 C .. awesome winch. If I could afford it I'd add the air freespool, Bowmotor2 and 12mm Plasma or Bowrope ... Used by many of the racing community for centre winches, or even mains when run at 24V!!

I currently run a TDS 16.5 .. bought cheap as a non-working winch, spent £100 and it's a corker .. but massive overkill for 'normal' winch uses.

Saw a review but not seen the Terrafirma in the flesh, I run a Warrior 12,000lb winch on my Disco, value for money as an infrequent user but if I start doing a lot more than a pull per month then I'll take a RED winch, expensive I admit but designed & built from scratch in the UK, top class winches!

I used to have a 13000lb Winchmax, I bought it second hand from a mate for 120 quid plus two pints, it got regularly abused in tree work/off roading, never had a problem with it, very reliable. I am also interested in the terra firma winch, as have got a new land rover which doesn't currently have a winch.
