I've been offered a superwinch electric winch for a few quid (same as the electric board ones) but the only problem is it is 24 volt. How can I convert/adapt it to run on my 12v system?

There's no easy way!

Either the motor windings will need re-winding to 12V spec. or the motor replacing with one that is already 12V...

Might be easier to add a second battery and use both together to power your winch, but this goes against all reasons behind using a split charge battery system on winches!

I pretty sure the current draw of a winch is well beyond what a 12/24v inverter will handle, so I guess your probably looking at replacing the motor with the equivilant 12v version. You could probably fund much of it through ebaying the 24v one if it's in good nick.

Or convert ya landy to 24V :D :D

Ive just spent well above £1.50 on new bulbs so a conversion to 24v is not even an option (plus Im likley to blow the landy up with my specailist electrical knowlage):D But ive found a company that sells the winch which Ive been offered, (24v Huskey Superwinch) and I think they do new motors for 24v and 12v, are they interchangable? (with a new solonoid etc)
