hi. thanks for looking.

I am in the market for a winch and have been having a look about. on my travels I have seen some new ones with stuff built in. for example one has a compressor built in and another has a jet was attachment! I can understand how they work but what I want to know is are they any good? they are a but out f my price range but you know how it is when you want something.

I like the idea of both the jetwash and the air compressor, if they are any good which one would you choose?

also is anyone selling a winch? I know this question is for the wanted/forsale section but I am a feable newcomer and not posted enough to start a thread in there just yet. not far off though!

The way I always see it, you want a master of one, not a jack of all.

Get yourself a good compressor, a good jet wash and a good winch :) Plus that way if one of them breaks, it doesn't render the rest useless :D

that is my thoughts exactly however the same would have been said 30 yeas ago about calculators / word processors and such. as technology advances things get better at doing more things. unfortunately I think the advancement of the winch is not there yet.

so metal rope or synthetic ? anyone have any pros and cons to them other than weight?

sorry for not being clear. yeah what rope would you recommend for the winch

I get that synthetic is stronger and lighter and safer but is it worth the extra money in a real world?

realistically the winch will get used about 6 times a year??

thanks for the link.

after reading that I have decided to go for a metal one. I particularly enjoy being a mucky pup and cleaning the rope to the extent that I would want to after spending all that money on one would do my head in.

I think a quick jet wash and a spray in oil is much easier so the metal one is for me!

thanks again guys and gals!
