will this cable be upto it?

Hi guys, well im gettign round to fitting my 2nd battery in the 300 disco

running a 2nd alternator using pressbrakes mount, then going to have 2nd battery in the boot next to winch, i will probably end up running CB aux lights etc off the 2nd battery too, so will this be ok from ALT to Battery ?

will need approx 5 meteres to get me to where i want to be if this makes a difference in distance and what power will be dropped

What is max output of alternator?

For large cross section rule of thumb says 7-8 amps per mm square.

Alternators typically 100 amp output so 100/7 = 14. So allow say leeway for margin 20mm2 is minimum size of cable required for alternator to battery

i was hoping to get away with a standard 100 amp alt, but if needs be il get one of the high output which i think are 110

Disco 2 alternator is 130A. 35mm welding cable would be good, and is nice and flexible with double CSP sheath.
