As per subject. I've found a cheap set of Range Rover Classic factory
alloy wheels at auction, will they fit onto a Series 3?

Almost certainly not. The 53 hubs are too big. You could use spacers
as I just have, but I wouldn't think it worth the cost or other
hassle.

Provided you've not got FWH on the front, you could have the centres macined
out on the alloys to fit over. Again it might work out too expensive, but a
decent machine shop will be able to do it fairly easily.
