Will a mix of veg oil and diesel kill my TD?

Simple as that really...

What ratio of veg oil to diesel can I get away with, if any at all?

You should be OK on 75% in summer and 50% in winter. I did about 6 months (Nov to Apr) like this on my td and it was fine, just a bit trickier to start when it's cold. (it was never really a good starter anyway though)

edit...imean 75% veg to 25% diesel

Right, so no real problems with a buggered up fuel system then?

I'm sure I've heard/seen/read somewhere the 19j engine doesn't like it, but the 200/300's will run and the n/a works as well...
May be me being paranoid and people not rating the TD though...

I ran a 19j for about a year on mixtures up to 80% veg oil without any problems. Some folk do say the 19j injector pump doesn't like it but mine was ok.

If it doesn't like it, will 25 VO:75 DERV do much damage?

No! I think the whole injector pump think is a bit of an urban myth, lots of people spout off about it but it hasn't actually been a problem for anyone (dun't listen to what POS says!!!:D:D:D) You will definitely be fine up to 50/50, but for your peace of mind start slowly - say increasing by 10% on each fill up.

Just one tip, if you're buying it straight from the supermarket, make sure you get the stuff which has a calorific value of 900 per 100 ml and not 828. If it is 828, it has an anti foaming agent which is silicone based and does not burn, so firstly you get less power and secondly it is more prone to clogging up. The Tesco 3 litre bottles are 900 so OK.

Ah, ok.

Again, cheers!

Also be prepared to swap the fuel filter a couple of times within the first couple of thousand miles .. veg oil cleans the system out quite well!!

;)

he actually meant to say be prepared to swap the filter within the first few 100 miles - but you probably knew that as well

Yeah. I figured with the veg oil being thick it drag the crap up pretty quickly and clog the filter...

I've got a few spares handy anyway...

nah it's not a physical thing - it's the way it acts as a detergent and chemically removes the crud - but the resultant block filter is the same as you mentioned
