Hi all. Does anyone know where the item in attachment might be from? It was trapped between the rear brake disc and dust shield. I have also lost most of my brake fluid so thinking this is not coincidence.

Not sure but, I have just had a handbrake cable replaced
I haven't got Rave for the l322 if it was done by a garage take it back. You shouldn't have lost brake fluid though,if the system is the same as my Jag the handbrake is mechanical with the shoes inside a drum which is part of the brake disc.the foot brake operates calipers forcing brake pads to grip the disc.

Sorry, should have mentioned that 2 brake pipes were replaced too. Not looking good.

If the retaining pin hasn't been fitted correctly it can certainly end up trapped between the disc and the dust shield.

Yes it's the handbrake shoe retainer (keeps them against the back plate/mud shield) the hole in the back plate sometimes rusts through and the retainer pops out and usually get stuck in the brakes

No, any sign of leaks? Should have been checked after fitting.Time for a word in their shell likes.
Can't see where leaking from as away from home and not stopped raining. It had not then I drove it to where I am now, 20 miles. Had to stop half way and put a full bottle of brake fluid in. Been here since Friday and ready to limp home as pedal going to floor again.
