i had a constant drip of oil on my oil filter.so i changed it, but its still coming out. why?????
thanks

no , its not cross threaded.
its a land rover part. no.ERR3340.
i changed it about 4mths ago,and put the same as above on,and it instantly started leaking.so i contacted the company and they sent out a replacement.
i tightened the one on there with grips (not overly tight) and it slowed it down.
now i've put the new one on its still coming out.
i haven't left the o ring on there either.
shall i tighten it up with grips again, or would going for an aftermarket oil filter help?

I have had original LR filters in the past ERR3340 which have sprung a leak around the rim at the top, so don't anyone give me the ****e about ALWAYS buy genuine parts. Obviously the filter didn't leak before the first replacement was fitted.
Double check the mating face on the housing, give the new filter a smear of oil on the threads and the sealing ring and then retighten.

Filters should never be more than hand tight. You should not need to use any tool to tighten them. Suggest you contact the firm again.

Is it a v8?Have you checked the oil cooler hose that runs above it? Its possible that the screw fitting has come loose or the o ring seal requires replacing.

Maybe the bloke at the end of the same production line, that makes genuine expensive and aftermarket cheap filters, put a genuine expensive sticker on a cheap aftermarket filter. How unlucky is that?
