My 300 has just had a new head under warranty for a poreus head. Symptoms were blue white smoke on startup. Diganosed with oil on injector and glow plug then confirmed by a specialist.

Got the car back and it's still puffed white smoke this morning, starts fine but when revved it smokes for 10 secs or so, the smoke is not constant and puffs as if it's not all cylinders. Smokes again for a few hundred yards then it's fine until its stood for a long time and the colder it is the worse it is.

It also lacks a bit of power on hills, not as pokey as my 200 was but at more than half a ton more I don't know if I'm expecting too much.

Iv got all new filters and lift pump to go on tomorrow but it doesn't logically seem to be the lift pump for the smoke only the power.

Oh and it's a bit sluggish when cold

Any experience or advice would be appreciated

get someone to advance the timing a very small amount, like .020" or 0.5mm at the three pulley screws max. You will be pleasantly surprised by the results.

hi everyone i have a smiliar problem

i bought my discovery about 5 weeks ago and all has been good until this week.

i over heated, so took it in and changed the fan clutch on the A/C / Radiator. at the same time the mechanic said he has added a bit more diesel into the mx to make it run better. it did but then in the morining it bellows out white/blue smoke and lots of it. for about the first mile. (on starting it puffs out the usual small amount of black smoke and then stops, the white smoke only comes once in gear and driving). after 2-3 days i went back to the mechanic and he reveresed the diesel pump. this meant i had no drive at all but i wanted to see if it would stop the smoke. its reduced it alot but its still there.

any ideas?
