Does anyone have any experience with the Whitbread Space frames.

I have emailed them for a breakdown of whats included but I'm not really 100% on what the donor vehicle is.

I was looking for a space frame to simply bolt/weld onto my chassis so i didn't have to remove the running gear. though would consider a swap if i could get a tubular chassis and space frame in one.

i have seen others like the eurofighter but this seems most reasonable on price.

Thanks

Hi, depends what you want the frame for and who's rules you will be playing by:).
They've just done a CCV frame for me. Welds are all excellent & the bends are all smooth, with no rippling on the inside of the bends.
Malcolm does jig build ALRC spec frames (MSA competition legal) both welded to a chassis and bolt on (you will have to weld stiffener plates to your chassis). A tubular chassis frame is likely to cost a lot more.
If it was me I'd be inclined to ring him & discuss what you want, he's been very helpful with mine.
Cheers, Neil.

Thanks Neil,

its not to comply with anyone's rules. its more of a pay and play hobby / back garden laugh with the boys at the moment. but this may change if i find i want to compete.

i just wanted something a little cooler looking than the same old defender.

what i have found when looking at options is the price seems to mount. i.e. if you want the tranny tunnel frame, instrument mount etc etc etc.

PPcages do a tubular but not sure on price.

Might be cheaper to get a polaris utv type?

I had whitbread fit an external roll cage to my defender last year.

I was very impressed with their quality and workmanship. Nice bunch of guys too. Sorry can't be of more specific help but I'd def recommend them based on my experience.

all the info is on their site?

"We have purposely stayed away from the heavy chassis of the LR90 and have used the discovery as the donor vehicle making it cheaper and more readily available. Simply unbolt the standard Discovery body, save the pedal box and steering column, then by removing the fuel tank you are ready to fit our space frame. This can be done without even removing the engine, gear box or prop shafts etc."
