hi there :)

basically i've had this for quite some time now on my discovery. It's a 1998 R plate 3.9 V8i GS. it's never really bothered me that much, just something i'd like to sort as i'm slowly wittling my way though the various niggles and gripes i've got with it, nothing serious though, the usual occasionally leaky sunroof etc.
Basically, this problem comes and goes. i say problem, its not really, just a wierd noise! I'll be driving along, and when taking my foot off the throttle, when decelerating or changing gear ( its a manual ) for example, i'll get a very pronounced whistle sound which goes away as soon as my foot goes back on the throttle lightly.
It smacks of an air leak to me, but can someone give me some idea as to where from? i suspected manifold gaskets but i cant feel any exhaust gas coming out when i feel over it, and running wise it's otherwise tickety boo! no problems or lumpy running, sweet as a nut.
I havent looked at this any further yet, but i'll be checking inlet and exhaust manifold gaskets with some leak detector i nicked off the ship, checking all the pipework to the plenum etc.
just wondering if anyone else has had this noise on the 3.9 V8, and if so have you cured it.
Also appreciate any suggestions as to where else to look.

Cheers all,
Stu
