whinning noise coming from around gearbox 300 tdi

any help please noise come from around gearbox when driving slow
think it the thrust bearing cause when you press the clutch the noise goes away
am i thinking on the right lines ?

Best bet is to take it for aspin, stop after 200 yards and ask the wife to get out! Start down the road if no whinning then problem found!!!!!!

If it were mine I would put complete clutch in richard ! No good taking apart then finding plate or pressure plate gone

When I did mine plate good as new pressure plate crakerd

but had the same noise before I striped it down & slightly slipping

Get the spigot bush too, it's a couple of quid and is a job done.... (soak it well first tho)....

Complete kit if your taking it all apart. I've just changed the spigot in mine 10 minutes ago and it was really easy with grease and a tight socket to get it out. Getting it in was just as easy after soaking it in oil. Good luck
