Which springs to get?

Hi

I reckon my springs are shot. Got a 2004 90 TD5 and was thinking Landrover was swinging a bit when towing sometimes and worked out that partly was to do with the back of the Landrover sitting down so much. After looking at what the rear spring rates should be and seeing how much my Landy sits down when you chuck some bags in the back it’s obvious it sits down more than it should. Plus the lean to the passenger side is about 2 inches when empty.

So what springs?

I’m not fussed about a lift as it might compromise road handling and lead to sweaty palms crossing steep backings, also might not be great for towing? Also can’t be bothered with the other mods like prop shafts etc that would be required.

Run 235/85/16 just now and might go to 265 or something similar next time to cut down in damage to fields but I prob wouldn’t go much bigger so a lift prob not needed for tyres.

I have fairly new Monroe shocks fitted which I really rate.

I do carry stuff now and again and it does tow heavy loads but some weeks I won’t have the trailer on so don’t want to make too much of a compromise.

I get the standard lean to the passenger side being about letting the water run off when parked but if I go for equal springs on each side will it then lean to the driver side when I’m in it?

Cheap britparts? Heard they’re crap and won’t last.
Yellow HD britparts? Heard they’re too stiff for unladen use.
Terra Firma? Heard they’re relabelled britparts.
Bearmach? Quite like their stuff but can only seem to find stiffer blue springs that might have same problem as britparts yellows.
Old man Emu? Sure they are good but they are expensive.
Original equipment? Haven’t found them on internet yet but will be expensive at Land Rover dealer.

Any other suggestions?

You’ve been hearing lots of stuff! Never heard the one about Landies leaning so the rain can run off! That, obviously, is the main reason, but it also allows for the weight of a driver and fuel in the tank.
Britpart springs seem to be one of the few Britpart labelled parts that actually perform ok. Not sure about their shocks though. I recently upgraded my shocks to TD5-era Britparts for my OneTen and they’ve been great. I chose the TD5 ones because they are progressive - so when unladen they provide an adequately ‘comfortable’ ride, but the Landy can also be loaded up and pulling a 3t load with not a massive amount of sag.
I spent ages researching which springs to get as there is so much choice out there and so many conflicting reviews/advice. I’m very happy with what I chose.

Was searching though forums yesterday and the problem was that there were so many different opinions and most of them related to lifting landrovers which I don’t really think is the thing for what I do.

If britpart springs are ok then that suits me because they are the cheapest. My landrover takes a lot of abuse so the concern I had was that they wouldn’t take it and would start sagging pretty quick.
