What sort of oil do you use a LT77 gearbox? In haynes it says Automatic Transmission Fluid to M2C33.

Difflock website says ATF Dll but then when you click on it it takes you to a page for ATF Dlll.:(

I went to autosave and they had no idea but said I shouldn't use the wrong type as I may damage my gearbox. It seems like a simple question but it has got my flumoxed

Use the recommended grade of automatic transmission fluid.

NEVER be tempted to use thicker oils in a gearbox than is recommended. More gearboxes are jiggered by too heavy an oil than by using too thin an oil.

Unusually for a car-sized gearbox, the LT 77 has a gear type oil pump in it to circulate the oil around the cogs and bearings, serving two purposes, LUBE and COOLING.

If the oil is too thick the scheme fails, and things go horribly expensively wrong.

Thanks for the advice CharlesY.

So what sort of oil is right for a LT77 gearbox? Automatic Transmission Fluid to M2C33 doesn't mean anything to me and when I went to buy some there was 3 different types so I am still unsure which type is right.

Thanks
