I read some of the comments about MT's and all the lifts... I've seen them draw peeps into the look what I've got brigade, and try to prove...

Don't bother if all you are doing is green lanning, just get your self a good set of AT's, a shovel, good recovery points, a good Recovery rope, and a mate with a 4x4 to go with, have fun, then build the Landy to what you need..them build up the kit like Waffle Boards, High Lift Jack,

I've been places in a standard LR that a Moded, Landy could not.... Remember its not the Nuts that hold the wheels on its the Nut that Holds the wheel that is the deciding factor in most cases

My thoughts exactly. I have no lift, just ATs and have never got stuck.

That said, the tank guard, diff guards and rock sliders have paid for themselves.

Recovery points front and rear.
Large diameter tyres are more use than wide ones and give more clearance under the diffs.
Suspension lifts work if you really need the axle articulation but compromise the handling pretty much everywhere else.
Rock sliders, diff guards, steering guards, HD front bumpers all help prevent damage but add weight.
Diff lockers work but are a lot of money.
Mates that know what they are doing.
Snorkel if you are planning on wading.
Maintenance, Land Rovers are pretty capable "out of the box" keeping it in good working order is probably the most important thing.
