Evening all,
I have one of the last Face-lifted TD5 Discoveries produced. Recently I had a set of Light-force lights fitted by an auto electrician, who has done a superb job (You cant see his handy work). The problem I am having is sourcing a latch switch for the binnacle surround.
I originally purchased the factory fit loom kit, but too no avail, its meant for a pre-facelift model, and as such none of the connectors matched my loom, making the momentary switch supplied useless. He manufactured his own loom etc and has fitted a temporary switch in the mean time. To that end, does anyone know the part number, original or otherwise, of a suitable latching switch that would fit either my binnacle surround, or in the space where the HDC, air suspension switches are located. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have a look at my posts on these threads -

The trick of swapping the switch cap from a non-latching Aux. Lamp binnacle switch onto a Cruise Control binnacle switch has become very expensive, now that Land Rover has put the price of the Cruise Control switch up from £7 to £28  (the Cruise Control switch uses the White connector)

You have several options -

1. Facia switch (in the '6-pack') - Defender YUG000540LNF Aux Lamp switch
Pros of this switch - correct logo, Black connector available separately (from Dingocroft)

Cons of this switch - Ash Grey (not Black, like facelift DII)
switches earth side (not the live) - see my posts for a diagram of how to wire this switch.
2. Binnacle switch - see posts above for details of using a RH Heated Seat switch YUG102440, with the switch cap swapped for a binnacle cap (this switch also uses the Black connector)

3. Discovery 1 switch carrier (2-switch or 3-switch available) in place of the ash tray, with AMR4138 Front Fog Lamp switch (this switch uses the Green connector)

Connectors can be modified to fit any switch, by paring-off the keyways.

Hope that helps.

PaulMc,

Many thanks for quick and comprehensive response. Looks like I will go down the " modified cruise control" switch route. Again, thank you for advice.
