After a pleasant day with Mozz today we had a discussion about the fault mate series,

I have been on their website and noticed there are so many different models, I know its been brought up a few times, but can you recommend which one to go for? the website seems vague to me as what each one does,

Which one would pick for a compromise between value for money and functionality?

Thanks for any help

Pete

If you can run to it, a Nanocom as it does a lot more than read and clear faults, otherwise an FCR, or if you have the cash the ultimate is a Faultmate MSV 2, great bit of kit. All from BBS.

BBS Nanocom Evolution. covers all systems in the P38 and not tied to one vehicle. Whatever P38 version you buy; Gems, EDC, etc, you can upgrade to other p38 models/modules for £49 ish (not sure). I found it great for the money. :)I am willing to help local P38 diesel owners if help required with faults.

Check out my picture gallery, I've posted to Pics of my fault codes & test diagnostic.

The Nanocom EV 2 does most of the things that the MSV does but is not vehicle locked. It cannot though as far as I'm aware unlock a locked BECM, nor can you have BECM direct access. For most people the Nanocom will fulfill every need. A multi vehicle MSV is quite expensive and a single vehicle one is a bit limited if you have mate who might need a hand:)

I have data tek , but thats my problem I can't make head nor tail of it, no prices for each system or a clear idea of what each does, sorry I am a n00b , hence my post , was just hoping someone could give a clear idea of what each one actually did and the cost, to me the BBS website is awful and no prices apart from the fcr, hence the original post

i was thinking more like getting something like the MSV2 for home use and the kicker lites for keeping in the glove box for when out and about. you know how these things just suddenly appear and happen at the least inopportune moments :D:D:D:D:D

If you have an MSV Extreme you don't need a kicker as the MSV will operate stand alone and fit in the glove box, same for the nanocom:D

Look at the Shop, all prices there, but roughly £550 for a single vehicle MSV; £395 for a Nanocom, never considered an FCR, too limited so no idea of the price. It's a while since I looked so I may be out of date.
