well there yer are then, its selectable 4wd so it cant run the lt77 or the r380

OK guys now I'm confused!
My 110 has the 2.25 petrol. I think that was the engine in the series III.
Are there any engines that are pretty straightforward swaps? 200tdi, 300tdi, 3.5 V8?
Need to get the car back to work ASAP, on a budget with little experience!!!
Need to know what to look for on ebay.

futting a petrol in yould be quickest as you wouldn't have to change the fuel system but the 200tdi would be next on the list as they have the least leccy bits
Where are you PuffinCounter?
If you are stuck I could give you a good running 2.25 petrol for nothing next week. Weber carb I think.

Just to clarify things early 110s (& very early 90s) had the 2 1/4 engine, although they called it a 2.3. It was obviously very similar (but not identical) to that fitted in late Series IIIs.
When the 110 was announced it included a selectable 4wd option, but I have never found any evidence that any were ever sold.
So to replace a 2.3 petrol, another 2.3 petrol, a 2.5 petrol, then with increasing amounts of work various 2.5 diesels, up until the 300tdi they all fitted on the same gearbox.
