Which 110 for future expedition

theres a problem converting a van into a 4 door sw

If it's just you and your son get a hard top because you don't need the other seats. It's just a waste of space and money (also weighs a bit extra too). If you need more seats in the future, sell it and get a sw because there would be a lot of hurdles to overcome and no parts which you could buy to do the conversion. If you can find a 200 or 300tdi version you might save yourself a bit and many people prefer them as they can be easier to fix (essential if you are going on an overland trip or expedition). Of course, these will be older vehicles though.

Edit: Also, security is better on a hard top if you get a dog guard, window grilles on the back and a decent lock on the rear door you essentially have a safe area to keep everything in. With less windows its also harder to see in, so can help in that way too I guess...

If you are going to need a csw in future then start with csw as by the time you have invested a pile into getting how you want you wont be wanting to lose a load of money selling it . In some countries you need to carry a guide so extra seat handy eg china , internal space is about the same , just need to take different measures for security , and internal set up . JMHO

If there are only 2 of you going why 110 why not a 90 my wife and I are just back from 3 weeks in Morocco in our 90 and had everything we needed and we hadn't even a puncture.

Extra heavy duty suspension (as most of you know we were towing 1.8T to begin with - stop giggling!)

AA man said that it was one of the finest examples he'd ever seen when we bought - no rust, excellent body etc. Needs servicing after 55,000km which we're happy to do to (needs new brake pads, tracking out - again! etc. etc.) unless someone willing and experienced to take on themselves. Vehicle will be home to UK in approx. 6 weeks so any interested parties, please don't hesitate to contact us, or if anyone hears of anyone interested - please bear us in mind.

Should add that it's 1998 300 / 2.5 TDi model and there's currently just under 100K on the clock but we may just go past this while completing our trip.

How about a utility station wagon? Best of both worlds.

FWIW - I got a full SW - will be either tinting or mirroring back windows and fitting grilles for security. I need the extra seats from time to time.
