I have a 110 double cab and considering a galvanised chassis swap. I'm based near Hurstbourne tarrent in Hampshire. Can anyone recommend a good garage that can supply and get it done for me? Also the sort of costing.

Many thanks in advance.
Peter

@Rufi000 thats an impossible question to answer from our perspective ....

What 'other bits' ?
How old is the truck ?
Yes there will be some, but what are they ?
If it's a new bulkhead you need that will near double the price ..
Doors ?
Seat box ?
Tub floor/supports ?
Tank/tank support ?
A frame ?
Wiring ?
Brake lines ?
Fuel lines ?

All mine needed was the chassis, I supplied YRM galvanised chassis to bulkhead mounts and a new fuel filter housing.

Try The backyard 4x4, they are based in timsbury/michelmersh next to the brickyard. Not sure if they do chassis swaps but worth a call.
Chassis on its own will be around £3000 depending who you get it from, then like others have said, anything else that will need doing while the body is off. Brake lines will be on that list.

A friend of mine uses ASV 4x4 near Andover and is very happy with them. They may do a chassis swap. There are companies online across the country who just do chassis swaps in a few days. There’s a guy local to me in Stroud who does quite a few.

Great stuff. Thanks. I think I'd like it done as local as possible with a max 2 week turnaround and that does a good job and for a good price. I've had a look online and there's some that do the chassis swap including oils etc for 5k. Seems quite reasonable? http://www.foleysv.com/defender-chassis-change.html

Peter, also not too far from you and definitely worth a price/availability check are Safari Engineering in Hook and Frog Island 4x4 in Great Shefford. I complete all my own servicing/maintenance but a friend uses Frog and has only good things to say...incl' their hourly rate at only £65/hr.

Thank you! Yes I'll definitely give them a call too for some quotes

As other have mentioned above, now is the time to sort out all the other components attached to the chassis...fuel tank, fuel pipes, brake pipes, suspension et al. Fuel pipes are easy with body on but it's a great time to fit new Kunifer brake lines and braided flexy hoses + new dampers/springs/turrets [if needed], definitely new suspension bushes all round, sort out the wiring and give a thorough clean to the engine and transmission.

I have had chassis swaps on my V8 90 and 110td5 and they were both north of 10k each. The costs can easily spiral e.g might as well do clutch, new fuel pump, reconditioned gearbox, 300tdi back axle for disc brakes on the v8 etc as the body is off. It depends on underlying condition, long term plans with the truck and of course budget.

For reference both Foley and Broadland landrovers in Westbury quoted me about 10k for chassis swap, new fuel and brake lines. I went with PVH in Yorkshire but they have now closed down as the owner retired.
