Hi,

My two rear door windows have stopped working after them both grinding for a while then needing a hand to go up.
Having put it off the front drivers side went pop the other day - i can see the spool of wire in the door channel.:(
Ok so i think i might aswell replace all 3, had a look on eby, am i best to get the regulator repair kit or as i suspect the complete window regulator kit - i don't want them to go faulty within weeks, would rather spend the little extra for peice of mind.
Ther seem different types out there, any ideas / links would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Jason

tannaton & Jedi, that was my thoughts, think you guys are right. Think the regulator kits off eby are ok or can you recommend a supplier?

Hi

I got my repair kit from okzam-uk

its the fiddly one :) but it works ok even if it seems a little noisier than the original one.

That could be the installation though

Just 1 problem - it was supplied with a plastic slider for the glass but this had a hole in the wrong place so i had to recover the original metal part and use that.

I recommend the eBay seller windowregshop for a repair kit.

I have done the tailgate and passenger window on mine a drivers on a mates....

I got the first kit from nonstopauto but the quality wasn't as good.

I wouldn't replace the regulator complete but then again I have been in the motor trade for a long time now so if I can't fit a window repair kit I should sell all of my tools and give up!

@Richard
Is it just to Take Somerset screws off to fix? I need my front and to change and the cheap wires I bought last time was cr... Lasted some month' only...

That's who I bought the repair kit of too.....

And one kit was just the cables and you had to cut it to size, and crimp the ends.....now that was a pain...but still going strong suprisingly:D

Just refreshed my memory by looking on eBay, and the actual ready made kits from the likes of okzam UK arnt too bad to do, that's what id buy now. It's the bare cable one that you cut and measure which is a right pain.....don't know if the guy still sells them? But there wasn't much difference in price, the only advantage I liked with that kit was you kept all the other origional landrover bits, cables sleave etc

mine wasnt the "cut and measure" - it came with everything cut to length and finished.

Just had to wind it onto the central spool

Was it difficult to rewire? Im just weighing up the pros and cons of a cable kit and a 45quid regulator, im thinking new cables and origional reg is better than a cheaper after market spare?

There is a bit more to it than taking some screws off. There a plenty of posts on here and on you tube showing how to do it. Try a search

I had the same problem this weekend, nearside rear window. Fitted the new plastic clip only to find the holes were wrong. Managed to replace it with the original metal one without disturbing the spring section. Does sound quiet and works smoothly. Only about 13 quid from eBay!

Yes, saw a couple and you tube video. The wires only were terrible again. LR in Ger fitted them and after one day only same again. Definitely wouldn't recommend Oekzam stuff. Called LR in DE again and he said that' d be the prob with wires only as if only 2or 3 mm diff between the two it can cause probs in the spool. Guess I am going for the 45£ one from Island4x4 now.
